JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Ensures the project is constructed as per design, budget, quality, & schedule.
  • Manages project performance, schedule, & resources.
  • Provides performance status reports for safety, cost forecast, & schedule.
  • Performs detailed project cost review.
  • Understands client expectations &contract.
  • Oversees all change orders, including negotiating, processing, & assessing cost and schedule impact.
  • Oversees overall project closeout, including document archival, maintenance, and warranty manuals, deficiencies, & warranty work.
  • Meets construction budget by monitoring project expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions; providing nonproject annual operating and capital budget information.
  • Accomplishes construction project results by defining project purpose & scope; calculating resources required; establishing standards & protocols; allocating resources; scheduling & coordinating staff & subcontractors; evaluating milestone assumptions & conclusions; resolving design problems; evaluating & implementing change orders.
  • Approves construction projects by conducting inspections at critical phases.
  • Prevents fines and interruptions by complying with, & enforcing, codes.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following & enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Updates job knowledge by tracking & understanding emerging construction practices & standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances the organization's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Manage all daily activities on the construction site with a focus on safety, workmanship, production, and cost.
  • Communicate with the Project Manager to organize required manpower & other required resources.
  • Communicate and coordinate with subcontractors, to maintain the critical path of the project.
  • Ensure that subcontractors are performing duties as outlined by each contract.
  • Accurately interpret drawings and specifications
  • Organize and plan daily, weekly, & monthly construction activities on the construction site.
  • Knowledge of sewer, watermain, & stormwater infrastructure, systems, and processes.
  • Knowledge of Legislation related to the position, including the Planning Act, Clean Water Act, Ministry of Environment Regulations & other relevant codes & regulations related to sewer, watermain, & stormwater systems.
  • Prepare all preconstruction documents & submit to proper authorities.
  • Issue purchase orders to suppliers
  • Lead & direct people, equipment, & resources in the construction project.
  • Ensure sufficient deployment & productivity of work crews.
  • Prepare project documentation such as traffic control plans, permits and safety / environmental plans.
  • Measuring quantities for payment & documentation of daily construction productions and any required negotiations with inspectors.
  • Coordinate with Contract Administrators, Owner Representatives, & Project Managers of onsite progress & concerns & apprise of any issues encountered.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to crews, including building effective ways to increase productivity.
  • Report to the Project Manager for costing & any change in scope of work or working conditions, including the identified trigger for the change.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of monthly payment draws.

Minimum 5 years of experience in Water and Sewer.
