We at Drax are looking for a
Logistics and Planning Optimization Manager our dynamic Logistics team in B.C., Canada with the flexibility to work remotely.
In this role, you will have the responsibility for managing Drax's pellet sales planning and ongoing scheduling of finished goods shipments to customers.
This role would play a key role in ensuring that the contractual terms are met using detailed knowledge of customer agreements and providing a high level of customer service through integrated coordination and support.
The role would be reporting to the Director, Logistics Planning and Optimization.About the Role
- Develop a working knowledge of Drax long term sales agreements to ensure contract fulfilment.
- Demonstrate a flair for customer service and find creative scheduling solutions that add value for end users and promote future sales growth.
- Provide sharp analytical ability to understand Drax's entire network of operations, manufacturing dynamics, and logistics to assess opportunities and risks within our sales planning.
- Ensure the company meets delivery schedules, optimizes vessel wait times and minimizes demurrage (marine and rail).
- Manage a marine shipping plan to schedule deliveries with timing agreed by customers, while also reflecting the realities of production, terminal operations and logistics (marine, rail and trucking).
- Minimize demurrage costs and avoid "terminal full" situations through ongoing analysis of the master shipping schedule. Act on available solutions to streamline shipping and minimize costs.
- Communicate directly with customers, shipping teams and sales teams to coordinate delivery.
- Stay up to date on current customer contracts, track any amendments and translate them into the logistics plan.
- Understand the contractual implications of sales, terminal, 3rd party purchase and vessel agreements to optimize customer service, deliver within contract parameters and avoid penalties.
- Work with Logistics Planner to prepare shipment forecasts and summaries for input into various internal reports.
About You
- You would have atleast a Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Mandatory requirement of knowledge and experience in marine and rail logistics and planning in Canada. Road and Air logistics is good to have
- Atleast 3 years managerial experience in scheduling/logistics/planning; preferably with marine/rail interface
- Experience in reading, understanding and working with contractual language
- High analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time
