Role Overview:

As the Engineering Project Coordinator reporting to the Director of Capital Planning & Property Management, your main responsibility revolves around overseeing the campus infrastructure planning program, conducting feasibility studies for internal and external projects, and managing the contracts for a range of construction projects.

Key responsibilities involve project planning, evaluating design and engineering feasibility, defining scopes of work, devising design concepts and estimates, and creating construction drawings. You will also be coordinating construction kick-off meetings, serving as the Hospital's representative, liaising with consultants and the Regional Health Authority, and ensuring construction adheres to set standards. Furthermore, you will oversee consultants, contractors, and internal trades to ensure compliance with Hospital construction standards.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of (5) years of recent relevant experience in facilities/capital design and planning for complex, multidisciplinary projects and operations.
  • Experience in project coordination within the health care industry is advantageous.
Education and Skills:
  • Completion of a university degree or technical college diploma in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction, etc.), with formal training in AUTOCAD tools.
  • Project management certification is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in financial statements related to construction.
  • Familiarity with MS Project software and AUTOCAD, as well as document management principles.
  • Understanding of Building Code Compliance, life cycle cost issues, construction methods, sustainability design concepts, barrier-free access, and environmental risks.
  • Knowledge of engineering, project and construction management principles, health care infrastructure systems and equipment, building envelope systems, business management, and ethics.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience are considered at the discretion of the Employer.
