Course MTH510 Semester/Term Fall 2024 Hours/Section - 3 Hours Estimated Number of Students: 150 with TAGA support

MTH510 - Numerical Analysis - (Schedule - TBC)

Review of Taylor's formula, truncation error and round off error. Solutions of Non linear Equations in one variable. Linear Equations. LU-decomposition. Eigenvalues and eigenvectors. Jacobi, Gauss-Seidel methods. Interpolation and curve fitting. Numerical integration. Numerical solution of ordinary differential equations. (Initial value problems.)

Candidates hired for in-person courses will be required to carry out their teaching on campus. Candidates teaching remotely are required to have access to the appropriate technology, i.e. computer with camera and microphone and high-speed internet.

a) A part-time hourly appointment / one semester is for less than 9 hours in any one semester.

Additionally, if eligible, the successful candidate will receive 20% of the total extra students payment as outlined in Article 17 of the Unit 1 Collective Agreement.

Education

PhD. or equivalent in field related to target course

Teaching Experience

Teaching target or similar course at Toronto Metropolitan undergraduate program or another university undergraduate program.

Currency

Academic publications more than 5 years ago or current (less than 5 years) professional profile (including professional or academic presentations).

Other demonstrated professional currency (practitioner writing, courses taken).
