Position Summary

After receiving appropriate training and certification from Total Safety Services, the Safety Attendant will be responsible for duties at industrial sites or Total Safety locations, including Confined Space, Fire Watch, Bottle Watch, Atmospheric Monitoring, and Flagging/Spotting. This role also entails acting as a subject matter expert (SME), engaging with workers in the field and shop to provide training, mentorship, and review of employee knowledge and documentation. During times of low work availability, the Safety Attendant will assist in shop-based review, offering suggestions, and collaborating with HSE leadership to revise and update all supporting documentation as needed.

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understands TSS's responsibility to train, mentor, and hold employees accountable
  • Participates in the TSS Short Service Employee Program if necessary
  • Completes all TSS and client assigned orientations and training sessions
  • Conducts daily hazard identification, control measures, and documentation
  • Understands and follows PPE requirements
  • Completes all documentation and job routines diligently
  • Assists in inspections, audits, incident investigations, and training of employees
  • Actively involved in maintaining safety protocols and documentation

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Experience:

Prior experience in various industrial settings like Oil & Gas facilities, construction projects, or manufacturing industries is beneficial. Interpersonal communication skills and critical thinking ability are essential for success in the role.

Required Licenses or Specific Training:

  • Valid Government-issued ID
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license if driving is part of the job
  • Certifications in H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, CSO, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry and Monitor, and Fire Watch are required

Other Required Skills, Knowledge, or Abilities:

  • Proficiency in English comprehension and communication
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to various work environments and equipment
  • Capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong teamwork and willingness to take on new responsibilities

Interpersonal Communications:

Effective communication skills and the ability to enforce safety procedures are vital for success in this role.

Physical Demands

The job involves various physical activities such as sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Good vision and hearing abilities are required for the role.

Work Environment

The role requires working in different industrial and remote environments, possibly including camps or lodging accommodations. Employees should be prepared for exposure to various weather conditions, noise, and potential hazards.

Reporting Relationships

Complexity of Duties and Decisions: Employees are expected to follow established procedures and safety protocols diligently. Any safety concerns should be reported immediately, and the authority to stop work for safety reasons is encouraged.
