As a Registration Clerk at Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH), you will be responsible to accurately register all emergency and ambulatory care patients in a pleasant, professional, confidential and sensitive manner upon registration to the hospital. As well, the Registration Clerk will perform other general clerical duties, function as unit clerk for Emergency Department where possible, and relieve the switchboard operator. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Secondary school graduate with courses in Medical Terminology and Computers
- Three months' experience in a medical office environment
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and filing skills
- Excellent keyboarding and current computer skills; capable of coping with the pressures of a variable workload
- Ability to utilize applicable computer and systems within the Admitting/Registration department
- Attention to detail is essential in order to avoid errors that can have a direct impact to patient care such as misfiles
- Outstanding customer service skills are essential
- Clear understanding of legislations and guidelines related to the Security and Privacy of Personal Health Information
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
- Ability to meet departmental daily productivity standards in a busy work environment.
- Must work effectively as a team player and demonstrate prioritization skills
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance record

HOURS OF WORK
Permanent Part Time, scheduled up to 24 hours a week. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE collective agreement.
COMPENSATION
$ $27.73 an hour

Our services span acute care, rehabilitation, complex continuing care, and Level 3 intensive care unit, with exciting plans on the horizon. We are in the early stages of expanding our capabilities, including a 2,500 sq ft expansion to our diagnostic imaging department to add MRI services for our community, a 50,000 sq ft expansion off our emergency department to offer 24 inpatient mental health beds and planning for a new state-of-the-art hospital facility.
