Weaver, Simmons LLP is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Sudbury office as a Legal Assistant in our Labour and Employment Department. As a Legal Assistant, you will provide valuable administrative support to our labour lawyers, contributing to the efficient operations of the department.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Correspond with clients and other law offices as required, including document preparation.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings, ensuring calendars are wellorganized and conflicts are minimized.
  • Open and close files, maintaining accurate and uptodate records.
  • Provide clerical support, including data entry, file organization, and document management.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal documents, ensuring accuracy to established procedures.
  • Prepare client invoices and accounts, maintaining thorough and organized financial records.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks and documentation.
  • Effective multitasking and time management abilities to handle multiple assignments efficiently.
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate clear and effective correspondence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe software, as well as experience with Zoom and other virtual platforms.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to prioritize responsibilities effectively.

Qualifications:

  • A strong administrative background or prior experience working within an office environment is mandatory.
  • Previous legal experience is highly valued and will be considered a significant asset.
  • Completion of the Paralegal or Law Clerk degree or certificate is an asset.
