Job Description:

The Executive Director, Qikiqtani School Operations, reports to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Education Programs, and is a key member of the senior team responsible for maintaining the highest educational standards and services in Nunavut. The role involves ensuring that educational standards align with departmental requirements and regional strategic objectives, ultimately producing well-prepared graduates ready for local employment and global citizenship.

Requirements:

- Master's degree in Education, preferably with a specialization in Education Administration

- Minimum 5 years of elementary and/or secondary education administration experience

- Experience as a principal or Regional Office administrator

- 2 years of senior management experience (e.g., Superintendent of schools)

- Classroom teaching experience in elementary and/or secondary schools

- Enrolled in or committed to completing an Educational Leadership program in Nunavut

- Position of Trust requiring a satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Additional Assets:

- Fluency in Inuktut, English, and French

- Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, and land

- Experience in a northern cross-cultural environment

Application Note:

Current Government of Nunavut employees on indeterminate status may be considered for a transfer assignment for the term duration, subject to managerial approval. An eligibility list may be established for future vacancies.

Priority:

Priority will be given to Nunavut Inuit under the Nunavut Agreement in line with the Priority Hiring Policy.

Language Requirement:
