Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Disbursement Analyst will lead the success of all finance disbursement functions for Jumpstart and will be an integral member of the Jumpstart Charities Finance team.

The Disbursement Analyst is responsible for providing day to day disbursement accounting and support to the Jumpstart team.

The individual must have the ability to work independently as well as liaise with Jumpstart team members, grantee organizations, and other payees.

The individual must be passionate about the charitable work Jumpstart and support its core vision.

What you'll do

  • All aspects of processing of disbursements including but not limited to:
  • Provide timely and accurate processing of invoices
  • Data upload of disbursement transactions
  • Liaise with Regional Managers and Operations staff to gain appropriate approvals
  • Process weekly cheque runs
  • Ensure timely response to internal and external grant related issue inquiries
  • Ensure system exceptions and discrepancies related to disbursements are resolved on a timely basis
  • Ensure integrity of financial information and use of financial controls for the disbursement module:
  • Monthly reconciliation of disbursement accounts
  • Provide input to current internal controls and make recommendations to improve disbursement processes
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting of disbursements on a monthly and ad hoc basis
  • Maintain monthly chapter reporting for Regional Managers, stats logs on cheques cut, returned/cancelled cheques, and stale dated cheques
  • Analyze disbursement trends and provide variance analysis by Chapter, Provincially, Nationally, and by program type on a regular basis
  • Prepare reporting to government agencies
  • Prepare and maintain workflow documentation
  • Assist with quarterly reporting, forecasting, yearend audit, and other projects as required.
  • Contributing to a positive work environment and supporting the Finance team in achieving strategic objectives is essential

What you bring

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance or similar related area
  • Minimum 2 years' work experience in an accounting, financial reporting, analysis, or similar role
  • Knowledge of charitable industry standards and best practices in Financial Management
  • Experience with financial accounting systems required with a preference for experience with Financial Edge
  • Strong written, analytical, organizational, planning and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and provide high level performance
