The Intern, Innovation

The Intern, Innovation role involves working closely with Innovation managers and engineers to explore and develop solutions in specific technology areas matching the applicant's skills and qualifications. The role focuses on active investigation in the following crucial areas:

Marine electrification, alternative and zero-emission fuels, and propulsion systems IOT sensor systems in manufacturing or vessel equipment monitoring Manufacturing information and process automation and robotics LLM/NLP approaches for information extraction and management

Note: This position requires on-site presence at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver due to business requirements.

What you'll do

The successful candidate will provide daily support to managers and engineers, assist and coordinate various activities, including:

Working across multiple disciplines and technologies within the shipyard or with Innovation partners Taking ownership and initiative in technology development and demonstration Performing innovative engineering activities such as research, coding, testing, and evaluations Coordinating activities to procure and manage Innovation technology assets Communicating progress and outcomes through reports and presentations Leading meetings, updates, and related demonstration activities Engaging with team members, stakeholders, and other departments to manage project progress

What you'll bring

Enrolled in a 3rd or 4th year Engineering degree program Strong curiosity in marine and vessel applications for digitization, AI, green technologies, ship design, manufacturing or operations Experience in various technologies including digital information systems, zero-emission fuels, CAD, and more Knowledge of climate goals and sustainability is a plus Experience with CAD, scripting, and software development is beneficial Strong technical and engineering skills with excellent communication and organizational abilities Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and troubleshoot technical issues
