What you'll do

Position Title: SAP iXp Intern - AI/ML Data Scientist

Location: Vancouver, BC

Expected Start Date: July 2024

Contract Duration: 12 months

Work Hours: 40 hours per week

The Plutus team is actively seeking an AI/ML Data Scientist Engineer Intern to improve our training recommendation models tailored for each hyperscaler. In this role, the intern will focus on enhancing recommendation accuracy and optimizing cloud costs, critical aspects of our platform's efficiency and user experience. By leveraging advanced AI and machine learning techniques, they will analyze data from various sources to refine our recommendation algorithms, ensuring they align seamlessly with the unique needs of different hyperscalers. This internship presents an exciting opportunity to delve into cutting-edge technologies, contribute to the optimization of cloud infrastructure, and drive innovation in our team.

Position Requirements:

• Design, develop, and deploy accurate forecasting models for capturing and predicting trends, patterns, and anomalies in business data.
• Conduct feature engineering to extract relevant features from the data that can enhance the accuracy of the forecasting models.
• Train and fine-tune forecasting models using various machine learning techniques such as regression, time series analysis and deep learning.
• Evaluate the performance of the models using appropriate metrics and iterate on the models to improve their accuracy and robustness.
• Understanding of software applications, software development lifecycle, and development methodologies (Agile/Scrum)
• Familiarity with development tools such as Git and JIRA
• Flexibility to work with a global team in various time zones
• Clear and concise communication, both verbal and written
• Strong desire to interact with and learn from senior members of the team

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with hyperscalers like AWS, Azure, GCP, & basic understanding of cloud cost management
• Proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks
• Understanding of statistical modeling techniques, time series analysis, and forecasting methodologies
• Understanding of issues and opportunities of applying ML for forecasting and recommendations
• Experience in cleaning, preprocessing, and transforming business data
• Experience in SAP BTP Cloud Foundry environment and BTP services
• Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP
• Ability to work in an agile environment using Scrum methodology
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in English

Educational requirements:

• Currently studying or have recently completed an undergraduate or graduate program in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Information Technology/Information Systems

SAP provides the hourly base salary rate range applicable for the posted role. The targeted range for this position is 24-40 CAD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidates will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process.
