Position Summary
The SEM Division is comprised of three major departments across all campuses serving Domestic students and International Students.

Reporting to the Manager of Finance and working closely and collaboratively with the Business Development Directors, and the Recruitment Managers, the Financial Officer is responsible for all ongoing financial, payroll and associated human resource requirements of the division, coordinating these activities both internally and with relevant core service departments as well as managing the annual budget process of the division.


Responsibilities

  • Gathers information, maintains computerized records and in collaboration with the Manager of Finance, to develop departmental budgets
  • Processes requisitions, initiates payments/invoicing in coordination with both Accounting and Purchasing departments
  • Reconcile expenses for all Domestic and international offices, verifying expense, exchange rates, assigning codes and comparing to budget, verifying and consulting with contract overseas employees
  • Reviews monthly budget and investigates transactions as requested
  • Prepares quarterly reports with accompanying variance analyses for the Manager of Finance, AVP, Transnational Strategies & Market Development for review
  • Oversees the division's fulltime and parttime staff payroll to ensure accuracy within the established guidelines of the budget
  • Acts as the division's information liaison contact and trainer for financial related enquiries
  • Prepares salary calculations for all new hires
  • Acts as a first point of contact for HR with all contract related issues
  • Uses AISMARTR to develop reports as required by division Staff

Qualifications/Experience

  • Threeyear college diploma or degree in business administration or accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in a general accounting environment, including experience with accounts receivable/payable, reporting and reconciliation
  • Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Word
  • Demonstrated experience working with multicurrency
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines, priorities, undertake complex financial projects, provide high levels of customer service and initiate appropriate actions to maintain a complex accounting environment
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal, communication and judgment skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, to set priorities and work well under pressure with highly developed organizational skills with analytical and problem solving skills with constant interruption
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of working effectively in a diverse environment
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with mínimal supervision
