In this role, you'll lead a dedicated team in managing and maintaining multiple remote airports and their infrastructure across a vast geographical area.

Lead the charge in developing integrated, multimodal transportation solutions that prioritize safety, accessibility, and inclusivity

Please be aware that this role requires frequent travel to remote, isolated far north communities throughout all seasons.

About Us:

The
Remote Northern Transportation Office operates and manages 29 airports in Northern Ontario.

These airports provide year-round transportation to isolated Indigenous communities, including providing access to medical services, professional services (policing, social services, courts & legal services), general movement and emergency response.

Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team towards the achievement of it's business goals.

It will be your responsibility to inspire and motivate your team to deliver their best performance and align the team's daily actions with the strategic vision of the ministry.

You will contribute to the achievement of team goals by:

  • Overseeing and managing ministry staff, casual hires, and contractors in the construction, operation, and maintenance of multiple remote airports and associated infrastructure within a designated geographic area, in support of the ministry's remote northern transportation program.
  • Leading the supervision of new airport facility construction, as well as major expansion and rehabilitation projects at existing facilities.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the operation, construction, and maintenance activities of remote airports, road systems, and ministry buildings within assigned zones, utilizing both skilled and unskilled labor pools.
  • Planning and administering annual maintenance programs and capital projects for numerous remote airports and related infrastructure within designated zones, ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient operation of airport land and road systems.
  • Leading airport operations management and overseeing and directing all service functions throughout the zone.
  • Providing support for the maintenance program of a substantial fleet of heavy equipment at each remote airport location.
