Position Overview

Reporting to the Charge Technologist and the Medical Site Manager (Pathologist), this role involves receiving and preparing surgical tissue specimens for microscopic diagnosis. The incumbent will uphold safety standards, quality assurance protocols, and accreditation requirements.

Experience

  • Minimum of two years relevant experience.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate from a recognized Pathology Assistant Program preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree with courses in Human Anatomy and Physiology; Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) specializing in Histology, or equivalent.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP) or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with Histology procedures and basic pathology.
  • Proficiency in Routine Practices.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure.
  • Ensures confidentiality of all entrusted information.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal French and English may be required.
  • Capability to fulfill job duties.

The above qualifications are general and subject to adjustment based on operational needs.

This term position may conclude earlier as per the collective agreement.
