Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba, delivering some province-wide health services and supporting centralized administrative functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview:

Under the general direction of the Charge Technologist and the Medical Site Manager (Pathologist), this role involves the reception, gross description, and dissection of surgical tissue specimens. The incumbent will prepare tissue specimens for processing and maintain a safe environment, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations.

Experience:

• Two years relevant experience required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):

• Graduate from a recognized Pathology Assistant Program preferred.
• Bachelor of Science degree including courses in Human Anatomy and Physiology; Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist specializing in Histology, or equivalent.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:

• Membership with the Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP) or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Advanced understanding of Histology procedures and basic pathology.
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient analytical skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Maintains confidentiality of information.
• Proficiency in both French and English may be required.
• Ability to perform assigned duties.
