The Financial Analyst will contribute to the overall success of the company by providing analytical expertise to ensure that financial systems and processes meet the needs of Coast Hotels' internal controls and operating standards as well as comply with relevant legal and reporting requirements, both internal and external within our centralized accounting department based in downtown Vancouver, BC.


Responsibilities:

  • Creates and implements financial analysis tools for the centralized accounting department that supports the Company's overall strategy.
  • Uses accounting programs to investigate and analyze and provide quick, accurate and meaningful data to support Company's objectives.
  • Prepares budget templates and assists other departments and hotels in the budgeting process, reviews, analyzes and finalizes budgets for presentation.
  • Collaborates with others to identify and analyze business requirements and the implications for the team; identifies gaps, provides detailed analysis and suggests solutions.
  • Reviews financial results of the corporate office, hotels, and other departments on an ongoing and regular basis to identify areas for improvement that would contribute to enhanced business performance and to identify opportunities that would support business growth
  • Establishes clear plans, targets and budgets to support operational excellence.
  • Monitors the quality of work and provides feedback on the degree to which internal control and operational standards are met
  • Supports the centralized accounting department in accounting duties
  • Prepares required documents such as annual, quarterly, and monthly financial statements, cash flows, budgets and capital expenditure controls
  • Communicates and monitors company policies and practices, clear objectives, targets, and operational quality standards for the centralized accounting department
  • Other duties as required

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance
  • Working towards formal professional designation in area of expertise
  • 3 to 5 years of related work experience, including a minimum of 1 year in a leadership role
  • Advanced level in the use of MS Office Suite, Property Management and Accounting Systems
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights an asset
  • Experience with SAP Concur an asset
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple project deadlines
  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Strong problem and conflict resolution skills
