Unit Summary

Cardiac Arrhythmia Unit is a multi-disciplinary program that serves the Central-South Region of Ontario. It is comprised of a number of areas including the Electrophysiology Labs, Autonomic Lab and Device Clinics. Services offered include electrophysiology studies, cardiac ablations with mapping, insertion of implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs) and pacemakers, beta adrenergic testing, adenosine testing, and tilt table testing; as well as follow up of cardiac devices.

Position Summary

The Registered Arrhythmia Technologist in the Cardiac Arrhythmia Unit works with the interdisciplinary team to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the Electrophysiology Lab and Device Clinic to deliver safe and efficient patient care and outcomes.

This position is temporary until April 2026.

Qualifications


• Completion of a two year Cardiovascular Technology Diploma Program

• Current registration with the CSCT (Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists)

• Minimum of 2 years recent related experience in a electrophysiology lab

• Current IBHRE certification or expected completion within 3 years of employment

• Demonstrated advanced skills in ECG Interpretation

• Knowledge of pacemakers/ICD devices

• Ability to work wearing a mask and lead

• Experience with cardiac anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology

• Excellent problem solving skills

• Effective time management skills, ability to organize work and set priorities

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member

• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment

• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education

• Current BCLS

•Ability to wear a lead apron for extended periods required
