Mattamy is currently seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative individual to join our development team. This individual will work collaboratively with the Senior Manager to ensure a seamless and timely permit process to meet the business timelines. This is a critical role to ensure that we can deliver on the business plan to meet commitments to our partners and customers.

*The company hybrid model is 3 days per week, however this role will be required to work 4 days in the office to support the requirements of the permit team.

What you'll do

Apply for Building Permits as per the established production schedule to ensure they are issued in a timely manner meeting strict construction deadlines. Support Departmental goals by assisting departmental team members as directed by the Permitting Manager. Attend and adapt to numerous and varying policies and procedures required by municipalities within the Division. Attend meetings at municipal offices and project locations to facilitate permit issuance. Prepare and co-ordinate revision applications and drawings in coordination and consultation with the community team and external partners. Study and research comments tabled by municipal officials to facilitate permit clearance. Coordinate the distribution of project drawings, both incoming and outgoing, to ensure all required information for permit application is obtained and organized. Examine and approve all incoming documents from municipalities and coordinate with Engineer and Control Architect for approval. Produce spreadsheets/reports on a daily basis to reflect and update applications, permit issuance and project-specific information (i.e. Permit status reports, Project status and Permit QA's). Maintain knowledge of applicable building codes, zoning ordinances, and other legal regulations specific to each municipality. Coordinate receipt of required information to complete "permit set" drawings for application: Issued for permit drawings, engineer letters. Manage electronic and hardcopy storage and distribution of consultant drawings and documents. Commute to different municipalities and/or sites to drop off permits as required. Develop and maintain strategic relationships with municipalities and external stakeholders Develop, maintain, and document processes/a playbook

What you bring

Post-secondary education/community college in a related field, such as construction, engineering and/or planning. Understanding and ability to interpret information from architectural/engineering/landscape drawings. Comprehension of Ontario Building Code as it relates to mid- and high-rise construction. Required ability to understand and interpret municipal processes and agreements. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications. Strong organizational and time-management skills essential. Ability to troubleshoot. Effective interpersonal skills; strong ability to build relationships and manage stakeholders Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle required.

Equivalent work experience in mid – or high-rise construction.
