About the role:
As a part-time support worker, you will be responsible for weekend supervision of the Community residential Facility (Kirkpatrick House). You will utilize Logbook communications and monitor residents' daily sign-outs and household behaviour. Shifts are three - 8 hours on a rotational basis over the course of the weekend.

  • Postsecondary education
  • College or University (Criminology/Psychology/Sociology)
  • Knowledge of criminology, corrections, psychology and/or sociology would benefit with an understanding of the federal parole system.
  • Able to obtain a "Reliability Status security clearance.
  • Possess an enthusiastic and caring personality in assisting adult males with their reintegration into society while on conditional release from a federal penitentiary.
  • Ability to communicate and counsel with residents on issues that might arise during their residency.
  • Possess skills in communicating effectively, both oral and written.
  • Possess excellent people skills to facilitate relationships and trust with clients, colleagues, supervisors, program partners, and community members, and
  • Understand the use of authority in supervision and to intervene effectively in crisis situations

You'll also be prepared to

  • Be Flexible in availability for extra shifts that may occasionally arise throughout the week to cover any absences left by fulltime staff through illness or annual leave.
  • Attend staff meetings as required,
  • Be awake at all times, when on shift,
  • Assure that Kirkpatrick House operates in such a manner that objectives of the program are met efficiently, and
  • Actively pursue the development of jobrelated skills and knowledge.
