The Wagering Operations Department at Woodbine currently has an opportunity for a Manager, Wagering Operations. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Wagering Operations.

In this role, the duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for managing and developing wagering related services aimed at contributing to the provision of accurate and reliable betting processes.
  • Managing an effective betting profile, confirming and approving the daily track changes and exchange rates, reviewing and approving the final program Pool Definition report for all live and simulcast race cards and authorizing tote to open wagering for the day.
  • Providing technical expertise to administrative staff in order to provide accurate information and effectively resolve issues via simulcast conference calls, SAM helpline calls.
  • Provide troubleshooting with teletheatre calls relating to ticket/voucher issues.
  • Providing technical expertise to HPI to ensure that all HPI systems and Bet365 services are available at all times to customers, as well as liaising with HPI Support Centre staff.
  • Providing technical expertise and support to the mutuels and teletheatre front line staff.
  • Providing technical expertise and support to all Ontario Alliance tracks.
  • Managing staff in officialling races conducted at Woodbine, Mohawk, BC, Japan and several of the Ontario Alliance tracks.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with AGCO & ARCI model rules and regulations and any departmental operational policies developed by Woodbine Entertainment Group.
  • Managing a team of technical support staff by coaching and monitoring team members' performance and identifying areas of opportunity for additional training.
  • Create and manage the schedule of monthly events and distribute this to simulcast partners.
  • Manage past performance programs and insider picks made available thru the HPIbet website by uploading where needed thru our Administration site.

Basic job requirements include:

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in parimutuel wagering environment dealing with systems issues, or experience in a similar fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of tote system and HPI wagering systems would be beneficial
  • General knowledge of AGCO, ARCI model and WEG rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to solve problems and analyze statistics
  • Knowledge of MS Office and advanced computer skills
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have completed a post secondary education in computer related studies.
