Nature of Position

Under the oversight of the Executive Director, the Fund Development and Community Engagement Lead will foster a culture of philanthropy and engagement across the organization and within the Sough Okanagan community at large. The position is responsible for creating strategies, leading implementation efforts, managing relationships and leveraging external communications on various social media platforms. The position will inspire new contributions, encourage deeper connections with OneSky's services and values and work to achieve increased sources of self-directed funding to achieve OneSky's strategic planning mandates.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement:

  • Participate in regular planning and information sharing sessions, both internally and externally with community partners and joint initiatives.
  • Liaise with other community organizations or partners.
  • Develop, oversee, and manage community feedback initiatives related to program performance and evaluation from the agency partners' perspective.

Communications & Marketing:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies.
  • Serve various leadership tables in the development and oversight of key messaging, media relations or promotional activities.
  • Develop, oversee, and measure shorter term and long-term fund development plans and goals.
  • Support grant applications, government relations and advocacy efforts to address organizational objectives.
  • Develop and manage relevant donor or events databases and supervise event volunteers as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Completion of a certificate program in fund development, community engagement, communications or similar field and a minimum of three years of experience working in a program management capacity in the non-profit sector.
  • Advanced MS Office Suite knowledge.
  • TEAMS, Zoom, online or hybrid meeting set up and management experience.
  • Ability to seek information, proofread documents and meet deadlines.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to use judgement and act discreetly when communicating on behalf of OneSky internally or externally facing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately.
