Assembly Line Worker

Reports to:
Supervisor and Production Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
- accurately read and follow production paperwork
- sub-assembly and assembly of metal and wood components
- assemble, fit, glue, cut, and secure components
- installation of hardware or preparation for shipping as specified
- installation of glass inserts into door panels
- keep work station clean and organized
- follow all safety practices relating to operation of equipment and work processes
- follow company policies
- regular attendance is a must
- ability and willingness to help in other departments and do "odd jobs" as required to meet the needs of the business

- willingness to learn additional skills and complete other duties as assigned
Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- ability to lift 50 lbs in an asset
- ability to work day or night shift as required to meet the needs of the business is an asset
- ability to work overtime and some weekends when required is an asset
- ability to work in a noisy, fast paced environment
- able to perform the physical requirements of the job, which include bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, twisting, lifting, performing repetitive tasks, walking and standing for extended periods of time
- must have good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to complete the job and safely work with a wide variety of hand tools
Experience:
- must be able to operate all of the following equipment efficiently and safely: router, chop saw, table saw, drills, air nailers, hand tools, and tape measure
- 1 year previous general labour experience is an asset
Health and Safety:
- strict adherence to all health and safety policies and procedures
- ensure appropriate safety protection, procedures, and the use of all safety precautions when operating machinery, equipment, or using hazardous materials
- keep work area clean, organized and free from hazards
- report accidents, incidents, illnesses or near misses to the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), and provide input as identified to continually improve safety practices and procedures
- must wear CSA approved steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection and any other PPEs required to complete the job while on the shop floor at all times
