:

PHILOSOPY
Mentorship, support, and direction are the foundations upon which healthy teams can be built. The Leadership and Development Person (LD) is the key to this process.

The LD mentors and supports their team to build capacity in their knowledge and skills and provides direction around meaningful daily activities.

They encourage creative discourse towards seeing the person for whom we work as a whole human being, and brainstorm with teams about the best ways to be useful in a person's life.

The LD uses a Human Rights lens in supporting all of our community members.

Role & Purpose


The Leadership & Development Person will follow the Human Rights Worker job description in regard to front line work and is additionally responsible for supervisory, administrative duties and financial management of the teams they supervise.

They will ensure the timely, accurate, and professional completion of all paperwork and that all private documentation is kept secure.

Leadership & Development staff maintain open lines of communication between team members, themselves, Pod Wranglers, and Directors at all times.

They provide support to their team in the form of communication about details, appointments, mentoring, and training.

Staff specific support will be discussed and arranged to ensure team members are comfortable and confident in what they are being asked to do.

Leadership & Development staff will identify each team member's strengths and interests to find areas that align with team related needs and enroll them where appropriate.

LD's will delegate duties as needed to ensure that the 'To Do Lists' outlined at team meetings are completed.

The LD staff will always be positive, creative and encouraging with the team and ensure that they and their team members at all times adhere to Neighborhood Bridges philosophies, Code of Ethical Human Behaviours, and government requirements.

Supervision Duties

  • Provide new staff orientation and training specific to the person for whom they will be working. The LD will spend time to go through the orientation package with the staff prior to scheduled orientation shifts and ensure the HRW feels confident and competent before working alone. This is communicated to the Anarchy Administrator.
  • Follow the How To Be Useful for New Team Members with all staff joining a team they supervise.
  • Ensure Binder Orientation & Checklists are completed and fully documented
  • Work with Pod Wrangler to ensure the person has adequate support to learn the mechanics of their daily work. Any additional training, shadows, or mentorship will be arranged in collaboration with the Pod Wrangler.
  • Assess new staff members to ensure their readiness for direct work and ability to complete required administration duties.
  • Provide hands on mentoring and shadowing to the new team members and existing staff that require support around specific tasks or asset areas.
  • Be available to team members for daily questions as they arise. If the Leadership & Development is unavailable the L.D. will enroll the support of a Pod Wrangler to provide that support. If a Pod Wrangler is unavailable a Director may be contacted.
  • Proactively engage with all team members through regular Performance Support Tracking.

Schedule team meetings at a minimum monthly, but as part of regular practice every 2 weeks. Teams with emergent needs will meet weekly.

:

  • Mentor team member(s) to assist in preparing team meeting minutes and upload to ShareVision.
  • Encourage, motivate and seek creativity from team members to support the best possible outcomes for the people for whom we work.
  • Ensure teams have good information about how to use oncall supports and the oncall team has uptodate information about how to support those we work for after hours.
  • Identify team members who require additional performance supports and or disciplinary action, communicate those needs to Pod Wrangler and People Wrangler to collaboratively ensure appropriate steps are taken.
  • Ensure staff strongly adhere to Neighborhood Bridges policy, ethics, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Arrange coverage for team(s) as needed once a schedule has been published.
  • Ensure each team completes OH&S training as required by provincial standards.
Communication

Lines of communication:

  • The LD's first line of communication is first to their assigned Pod Wrangler and/or the Pod Wrangler on supervision that day.
  • If a Pod Wrangler is unavailable or the issue requires the support of a Director, the LD will bring the issue to the Director.
  • All scheduling issues are brought directly to the Anarchy Administrator by the LD. If the Anarchy Administrator is not available the issue can be brought to the Pod Wrangle
