Reporting to the Capital Manager, the Senior Capital Analyst will perform tasks of a general accounting nature with respect to capital asset financial statement line items. As part of these tasks, the Senior Capital Analyst will have the responsibility to maintain, create and document accounts related to capital expenditures for the consolidated company. They will create and provide reports to support monthly recording of depreciation, additions, disposals, transfers and gain or loss on sale. Also, the Senior Capital Analyst will prepare internal analysis reports, account reconciliations, and ensure that the company capitalization policy is properly enforced.

The successful candidate will bring critical thinking, a strong attention to detail and a desire to "dig in" to learn the business while being mindful of the strong culture and commitment of the Company to provide the best care possible for our patients and residents across Canada.

This position will be located at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario and will have flexibility for both remote and in-office work based on our hybrid work model.

Accountabilities

  • To assist in month and year-end accounting, capital accruals and carry over requirements.
  • To assist in preparing and maintaining monthly reporting for each asset, outlining the progress on all Business Plan and Special projects initiatives relating to the annual budget
  • To assist in ensuring that the approved budgets are maintained, verified and variances reported on a monthly basis.
  • To assist in identifying opportunities to enhance our current system of reporting and data gathering.
  • To assist in preparing and maintaining a database of all building audits, building conditions /and environmental reports
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience: minimum 1- 2 years work experience in accounting related role
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field
  • Working towards CPA accounting program preferred
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel is required.
  • Detailed oriented, with the ability to adapt to change.
  • Excellent communication, organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Accounting experience with large-scale Enterprise Reporting systems, knowledge of Workday preferred
