Job Description

Brief Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sustainability Student to join our Sustainability team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advancing our sustainability initiatives, specifically in the areas of greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and materiality assessments. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainable construction practices and contribute to meaningful environmental impact.

Responsibilities:

Greenhouse Gas Accounting:

  • Develop and implement data collection procedures for accurate and comprehensive GHG accounting.
  • Work closely with project teams to gather necessary data on energy use, waste management, transportation, and other relevant metrics.
  • Maintain and update GHG inventory records.
  • Assist in the preparation of GHG emissions reports with our software platform in compliance with relevant standards and frameworks.

Material Assessment:

  • Design and conduct a materiality assessment to identify and prioritize key sustainability issues relevant to Clark Construction Management and its stakeholders.
  • Through our software partner, create the survey, questionnaire, and other data collection tools to gather input from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze survey results and other data to identify trends, key issues, and stakeholder concerns.
  • Prepare a detailed report and presentation to summarize findings and recommend actions and initiatives.

General Sustainability Support:

  • Assist the Sustainability Manager with ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Conduct research on industry best practices and emerging trends in sustainability.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategy discussions.
  • Support the development of sustainability-related communications and educational materials.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Sustainability, Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 1-year professional experience
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with GHG accounting standards and frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol) is a plus.
  • Experience with materiality assessments, survey design, and analysis is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Desired:

  • LEED or similar accreditation is an asset.
