GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY


The Technical Trainer is responsible for the onboarding of new-to-role, level I, II and Senior team members within an assigned business area.

As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) they partner with Corporate Claims Training in the review and audit of training materials and Human Resources Talent Development in the development of training content.

The Technical Trainer is responsible to coordinate and deliver training for their business area.

The position leads the technical and soft skills learning activities, coaches team members to effectively transition them into their new role and provides feedback on learning performance.

The position will monitor the team member's progress through learning activities; adjust or add learning activities in response to individual or group needs; provides dedicated support and assistance during development; supports team members in the adoption of new initiatives, processes, and technology; and provides feedback on training progress and learning outcomes to the team member's Manager during the training period.

The position is accountable for identifying continuous improvement needs of the existing training materials for all staff levels within the business unit and conducts the regular review and audit processes for training effectiveness and proactively works with Corporate Claims Training to ensure updates are implemented or modifications to the onboarding program content and learning activities are completed.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Training Program Delivery

  • Delivers and organizes consistent onboarding program experiences for newtorole team members at the three department levels I, II, and Senior, within the assigned business area.
  • Coordinates training for new initiatives, service improvements and seasonal learning needs for business area teams and external thirdparty partners as assigned.
  • Reviews and provides feedback to learner completing their assigned work e.g., on actual claims estimate or on a realworld example at the appropriate level I to Senior level.
  • Provides dedicated support to the onboarding of a new team member, including sharing knowledge and experience, responding to complex technical questions, actively engaging the team member in learning activities, and reinforcement of their learning and skill building.
  • Modifies standard onboarding programming to respond to the individual needs of the team member (e.g., assessing prior learning, knowledge, and work experience).
  • Adjusts standard onboarding programming in response to the team member's pace of learning and achievement of performance and learning outcomes.
  • During high demand periods, coordinates and provides coaching to temporary trainers who are used to deliver components of the onboarding programming, as well as coordinates guest facilitators and presenters to deliver very specific specialized learning sessions and activities within the program.
Role Development & Coaching

  • Coaches the team member throughout their learning development stages by providing constructive feedback to identify areas of strength and areas for development and takes appropriate actions to find and provide training solutions to address areas of need at the appropriate team level.
  • Conducts audits on new to role members' performance during extended onboarding period (e.g., claim file reviews) for adherence to policy and procedures, identifies areas of concern and takes appropriate action to support and increase their level of performance.
  • Monitors the progress of team member onboarding against departmental standards and identifies where additional targeted training support and coaching is needed.
  • Provides support to operational team members who require personal development during onboarding to new role and occasionally beyond.
  • Supports the transition of the new team member from a learning environment into work accountability and provides dedicated guidance during that transition.
  • Provides written and verbal feedback on training progress and learning outcomes to the team member's Manager, who will incorporate this feedback in the team member's performance review and/or performance management.
