The Assisted Living Investigator (the Investigator) follows up on incident reports and conducts investigations into complaints that are within the Assisted Living Registry's mandate.

The Investigator conducts site inspections of registered assisted living residences to assess compliance with legislation and regulation, as part of an investigation, and of those that may be operating unlawfully (without registration).


Job Requirements:

  • Degree in social sciences, humanities, law, care field (social work, mental health, substance use, seniors), or a related field plus 1 year of recent, related experience*; OR
  • Diploma in law, humanities, care field (social work, mental health, substance use, seniors), statutory investigations or a related field plus 2 years of recent, related experience*; OR
  • No degree, postsecondary training in investigation and enforcement skills or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of recent, related experience
  • Recent (within last 5 years), related experience must include:
  • Experience investigating and/or resolving client complaints.
  • Experience working with adversarial clients.
  • Experience preparing formal decisions including analysis, reports, and correspondence.
  • Experience working with seniors or mental health, or substance use populations.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Experience working in the Health sector.
  • Experience planning and conducting complaint investigations.
  • Those who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit)
  • Proviso:
  • Applicants must have a valid Class 5 BC Driver's license as travel is a requirement of this position
