Nursing Education Coordinator II, Clinical Educator - Surgery Program
Western Memorial Regional Hospital, NL

Duties:

Located at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, this position will promote quality evidence-based nursing practice through education and professional development of the staff of the surgical units.

The individual in this position is responsible for the design, delivery and evaluation of orientation and other educational programs specific to the surgical areas.

The Clinical Educator will model, promote, facilitate and evaluate a best practice approach to care that is patient focused and evidence based.

The person in this role functions as a mentor, educator, researcher and consultant whose goal is to facilitate the professional development of practicing nurses and other members of the health care team.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Nursing Degree and current Registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador are required.

Courses related to adult or vocational education is an asset, and knowledge of adult learning principles is required. Knowledge of program development and evaluation is also required.


Five years acute care surgical experience is preferred, however if no successful applicants meet the qualifications we will consider those with a minimum of three years acute care surgery experience with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based standards of care for acute general surgery and orthopaedic patients.

In the event there are no applicants with the outlined qualifications, applicants with an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training may be considered.

Clinical proficiency with nursing skills and post-operative care applicable to the surgery units and expertise with equipment commonly used in the surgery areas is also required.

Experience in facilitating adult learning is an asset.
