Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

The successful candidate will have a combination of roles including Portfolio Management for a key local client, leadership and mentorship to a team of junior and intermediate engineers and technical input to projects from planning to implementation and typical tasks include:

  • TheSenior Structural Engineeris afull-time position based in Vancouver, BC. Canada.
  • Lead team(s) in the design of industrial structures
  • Prepare, supervise, and provide technical mentorship on analysis, modelling, reports, design and drawings for structural engineering design.
  • Develop work plans and budgets
  • Liaise with clients to determine client requirements and prepare proposals
  • Mentor/direct junior staff and review work product
  • Control project budgets / schedules
  • Prepare detailed analysis, design, and project deliverables including drawings, specifications and reports
  • Lead field inspections of major equipment items
  • Support larger projects including:
    - Provide detailed analysis and design
    - Demonstrate Inter-discipline coordination
    - Assist with project reporting
  • Travel as required for various field programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering (a master's degree is preferred)
  • 15 years of design experience in industrial structures
  • Registered or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia
  • Design experience in steel and concrete structures including trusses, bridges and supports
  • Experience with design and inspection of industrial equipment including conveyors, transfer towers, shiploaders is anadvantage
  • Experience with seismic design, structural analysis software, and Microsoft Office is preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and verbal)

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is 124,156.00 to 182,583.00
