Job Summary

Working in and from the work site, the Clinical Counselor provides assistance and support to the individuals and their living environment while encouraging independence, self-responsibility, and healthy lifestyle choices.

You may provide individual and group counseling services.

Functions & Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals to work toward the maintenance and enhancement of their psychological, emotional, social, and interpersonal functioning.
  • Help individuals struggling with addictions and mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, OCD, posttraumatic stress disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders (ADHD), and traumatic brain injury.
  • Works with the client as needed to obtain the desired social and emotional wellbeing and recovery through management of the issues that are caused by trauma.
  • Work within a harm reduction model of care, conduct individual and group counseling sessions designed to increase client awareness of the patient population's related issues and enhance positive motivation for change.
  • Collaborate with other team members, in the formulation of treatments.
  • Provide appropriate treatment/support including individual and group therapy, couples and family therapy, and education.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Education, Training & Experience

  • Bachelor's/master's degree (or equivalent experience) in Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Professional College membership or registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counselors.
  • Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Have an interest in Psychology, special education, teaching, social work, or another related field.
  • Broad skills in counseling, clinical assessment, and report writing.
  • Ability to engage in individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Ability to develop, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate education/training or discussion groups on a wide range of health topics.

Job Type:

Pay:
$43.03-$52.68 per hour
