Packaging Development Scientist.



Position Summary/Objective:

Lead the Riverside packaging evolution in line with our business purpose. The position ensures successful development, management, and optimization of all branded and private label packaging.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and Uphold Riverside's Core values
  • Close collaboration with Cross functional team (Marketing, Manufacturing, R&D, Procurement) to develop functional packaging designs from concept to implementation, with mínimal supervision:
  • New product development
  • Line Extensions
  • Promotional and Display items
  • Productivity
  • Operational Optimization
  • Item change requests
  • Autonomously coordinate, plan, and execute line trials & PKG related testing to validate designs
  • Limited support required based on experience with Packaging materials & structures, and interaction with packaging equipment
  • Troubleshoot issues related to packaging materials; coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to remedy the issue and make plans to prevent future occurrence
  • Specright and FG Specs: Create and manage accurate BOMs and specifications
  • Sustainability: Prioritizing sustainable structures for new projects and constant push to incorporable sustainability in all design aspect
  • Project management:
  • Collaborative working style
  • Adaptive to changing requirements and fast decisionmaking ability
  • Companywide technical leadership:
  • Supplier evaluation and monitoring
  • Maintain up to date industry knowledge with travel as required

Key Competencies for this role:

Technical Expertise:

  • Proven knowledge of multiple packaging formats, types, and structures
  • Experience in various Packaging equipment and their interaction with packaging structures and formats
  • Proven record in designing for optimal Packaging formats based on product dimensions

Education & Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in CPG or packaging company
  • Packaging development and manufacturing experience is required
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CAD related programs relevant to design and palletizing
