If you have previous experience in a retail or restaurant environment and/or lead a small team of staff, then you may be well suited for this position as a Park Store Operator.

Fitzroy Provincial Park is located on the Ottawa River, and designated as recreation classs by Ontario Parks.

Majestic white pine covers much of this park, but it also features century-old trees and a stand of 300-year-old bur oaks by the Carp River.

The park offers two campgrounds with comfort stations, two beaches, a playground, two hiking trails, a boat launch, and a park store.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • assist with the organization and management of the park store
- oversee and ensure all staff conform to policy, procedures and legislation
- provide leadership to summer students
- operate the park's rental program

How do I qualify?:

Mandatory:

  • You have the ability to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as per schedule

Technical knowledge:

- knowledge and experience working in a retail environment and knowledge of cash handling/cash balancing procedures
- knowledge of relevant acts, policies and procedures related to the preparation, service and safe handling of food
- knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- knowledge of supervisor and worker responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Communication and leadership skills:

- proven communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise tact, diplomacy and discretion
- ability to lead a crew of up to five student workers

Essential skills:

- ability to organize work, set priorities and complete work in a timely and efficient manner
- ability to work well under pressure
- basic knowledge and skill in word processing, spreadsheets, data input and general computer use
