The Opportunity:


As a Student, ITS Support Consultant you will have the opportunity to assist with and collaborate with the IT staff on computer replacement, asset tracking and installation.

You will use your knowledge of computer technologies to help ensure computers are properly configured, handled, stored, and secured. If you are student with great problem-solving, communication and analytical thinking skills this may be the role for YOU


You will have the opportunity to assist with annual computer replacement, asset tracking and recording, installation, and recycling of same.

You will use your skills to help install Regional standard image on desktops and laptops.

You will help ensure computers are properly configured, handled, stored, and secured.

You will update inventory changes and identify needs for additional equipment throughout the refresh process.

You will participate in travel to regional offices to replace computer hardware.

You will need to lift and carry computers weighing up to 20 lbs.

Performs related duties as assigned.


Knowledge of computer technologies, specifically CPU architecture, cabling requirements, networking technology equipment, Microsoft Operating Systems, Windows 7, Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Visio), and Internet/Intranet acquired through current enrollment in a related university/college program (e.g., Computer Systems Technology).

Knowledge of and ability to follow corporate policies and procedures.

Ability to work independently and organize time to accommodate multiple tasks.

Communication skills to provide/exchange technical assistance and information to clients and suppliers and participate as an effective team member.

Ability to read software documentation, hardware manuals, and system design and development language documentation. Ability to write correspondence using plain language to a non-technical audience.

Ability to travel within Waterloo Region.

Ability to support and demonstrate the Region's values.
