The Provincial Pharmacy Education Coordinator coordinates and delivers education programs for Pharmacy staff at the regional centres of the BC Cancer Agency (BCCA), undergraduate and graduate pharmacy students, and pharmacy residents.

Practicing as an expert practitioner in oncology pharmacy practice, the Coordinator is responsible for the BCCA Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program.


What you'll do

  • Coordinate and deliver instruction for Pharmacy staff education programs related to new or changes to drugrelated BCCA cancer management programs and policies, including new medications prior to their use an new uses for existing medications, such as associated protocols, guidelines, and restrictions.
  • Coordinate and deliver instruction for Pharmacy staff education programs including inservice programs and clinical training programs.
  • Is responsible for all aspects of the Oncology Pharmacy Residency

This includes:

  • Planning and delivering the core curriculum for the residency program
  • Ensuring the oncology pharmacy residency program complies with the accreditation requirements of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists.
  • Representing the BCCA on the BC Pharmacy Practice Residency Program Committee.
  • Coordinating the activities of the instructors and practicum providers delivering the program
  • Managing the selection, hiring and orientation process of the program,
  • Supervising the progress of the resident throughout the duration of the program, evaluating the work of the resident including the assessment of the residency project

What you bring

  • Post Graduate Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited university.
  • Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency.
  • Licensed with College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
  • A minimum three (3) years of recent related experience including experience in oncology and/or hematology or an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
  • Support team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
  • Work collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
  • Have commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act
  • Have Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and antiracism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
