Work environment:


Global Affairs Canada (GAC) is responsible for managing Canada's diplomatic and consular relations abroad, expanding international trade, and leading Canada's overseas activities related to international development and humanitarian assistance.

GAC is also responsible for maintaining the Government of Canada's international network of diplomatic and consular offices in foreign countries.


The department employs over six thousand persons, half of whom are based at headquarters in the National Capital Region, the other half serving at missions around the globe.

No matter where they might be stationed, GAC staff play a vital role in promoting Canada's place in the world and providing vital services to Canadians wherever they go abroad.


The Delivery, Professional and Technical Services - AWD is the International Platform Branch's physical infrastructure delivery agent, responsible for meeting the evolving needs of GAC's missions abroad by designing, constructing, equipping and supporting Canada's diplomatic and consular platform abroad.

Security, Maintenance and Service Line Project Delivery (AWS) is a division amalgamating physical security implementation (AWSA), Chancery Electronic Security Systems (AWSB), maintenance (AWSM) and minor projects (AWSP).

This division is responsible for providing timely, cost-effective physical security solutions at missions in order to protect People, Information & Assets, and functional guidance and direction to mission personnel on the provision of property and facility management services in accordance with the requirements articulated in Part II of the Canada Labour Code (CLC).

The intent of this selection process is to staff three (3) AS-04 positions on an indeterminate basis.


A pool could be created to fill identical or similar positions at Global Affairs Canada with a language profile, security level and duration that could vary.

EDUCATION
Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EX- Recent* experience in the field of physical security or other similar technical fields (e.g. telecommunications company).


EX- Recent* experience in providing technical-related security support and guidance to senior management (Director and above), building contractors or architects.

Experience in the design layout or installation in at least two of the following:

  • Access Control System
  • Alarm System
  • Closed Circuit Television System
  • Video Intercom System
  • Commercial Lock Hardware
  • Recent: Experience has been acquired within the last (5) years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
Successful completion of an acceptable post-secondary educational program or professional certification in Project Management.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience working on construction sites.

Experience with Computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit).

Experience in providing advice and recommendations to senior management (Director and above).

Experience interpreting policies and guidelines.
