The Opportunity:
The Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Specialist will help build and evolve the ESG program within Symcor.
The ESG Specialist will provide support in defining Symcor's ESG framework, drafting ESG policies and procedures, participating in long-term program planning, and supporting the budget process.
The ESG Specialist will assist in the development and implementation of Symcor's ESG initiatives, including measurement of Symcor's carbon footprint and de-carbonization efforts.
You will be a part of a team that identifies and assesses the risks and opportunities related to ESG factors, such as climate change, human rights, diversity, ethics, and corporate governance.
The ESG Specialist will also provide recommendations and insights on how to integrate ESG into Symcor's operations enterprise-wide in alignment with corporate objectives related to ESG.
About The Role:
- Develop, monitor and update ESG policies, standards, and best practices to ensure adherence to the required standards.
- Develop and maintain ESG frameworks, methodologies, and indicators to measure and benchmark the ESG program performance.
- Support the creation of a centralized inventory of Symcor's ESG initiatives to support internal processes and business initiatives.
- Develop Symcor's carbon footprint baseline, support ongoing emissions measurement, and develop recommendations on further decarbonization efforts.
- Develop and implement ESG reporting framework and methodologies, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
- Conduct research and analysis on ESG issues and trends impacting Symcor's business. Collect, verify, and interpret data from various sources, such as company reports, thirdparty ratings, news articles, academic studies, and stakeholder feedback.
What You Need to Succeed:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental studies, social sciences, finance, economics, or related fields.
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years in ESG research and analysis.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of ESG issues, frameworks, and standards, such as the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) S2, and the Task Force on Climaterelated Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in using data analysis tools.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Effective presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.
- High attention to detail and quality work products.
- Proactive and curious about sustainability, with aspirations to positively impact our environment.
- Previous office experience is an asset (filing systems, record keeping).
- Software experience navigating internet websites, MS Office tools, Outlook, Teams, Power BI, Excel.
