Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.

The Vice President, Partnerships and Chief Strategy Officer is currently seeking to fill the role of Manager, Knowledge Mobilization. The purpose of the position is to lead the Supporting Transformation through Research, Evidence, and Action in Mental Health (STREAM) Lab, including the design and development of high-quality evidence products to inform mental health and addictions system design and policy development and support other evidence-informed system decision-making efforts, synthesizing complex evidence into actionable information for Waypoint's Partnerships division, and ensuring effective translation of evidence into programmatic initiatives.

Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. The office location is 500 Church St in Penetanguishene, ON.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Directly manages a team of staff and students and works closely with the Waypoint Research Institute nwho contribute to the STREAM Lab.
  • Manage and report on the STREAM Lab budget, projecting/ forecasting future budgetary needs and requirements, monitoring expenditures and developing Business Cases.
  • Synthesize Complex Evidence: Oversee and contribute to the Identify, analyze, critically appraise, and synthesize scientific and grey literature using traditional and new methodologies.
  • Knowledge Translation: Translate evidence into programmatic and policy system Initiatives.
  • Knowledge Mobilization: Develop and implement knowledge exchange strategies to disseminate knowledge products and tools. Monitor and track divisional knowledge mobilization efforts.
  • Design and Develop Evidence Products: Lead the design and development of evidence products utilizing rigorous methodologies such as systematic and rapid reviews.
  • Expert Consultation: Serve as an expert consultant on evidence subject matter within the organization and to external agencies.
  • Project Management: Provide ongoing status updates, feedback, and appropriate reporting on projects to the VP, Partnerships and/or other stakeholders.
  • Capacity Building and Team Management: Train and mentor staff in conducting complex syntheses of scientific and grey literature and knowledge mobilization methodologies. Provide excellent supervision to the STREAM Lab team, focused on growing capacity.
  • Policy Analysis and Research: Conduct primary or secondary research and policy analysis as needed.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Support: Identify opportunities for strategic engagement and partnerships or collaboration with key external stakeholders.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Provide leadership on the analysis of stakeholder perspectives and policy positions.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain and strengthen relationships with partners at regional, provincial, and federal levels.
  • Promotion of Learning Health Systems: Promote the value of Learning Health System (LHS) models and frameworks.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in health services, research, public health, or health policy is required.
  • Completion of a graduate degree in health services, knowledge mobilization, health policy or a recognized equivalent with demonstrated relevance to mental healthcare and/or substance use contexts is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of practical and related experience developing evidence synthesis products and applying relevant methods to synthesize complex evidence and critically appraising scientific literature.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience directly supervising a team is considered an asset.
  • Conducting quantitative and/or qualitative evaluation, data collection, statistical analysis, interpretation, evaluation, synthesis, publishing, and reporting.
  • Coordinating and managing mental health, substance use, public health, health policy and/or health services research and large-scale studies.
  • Knowledge translation (KT) and implementation science (IS) methods and best practices.
  • Interpersonal skills and superior communication skills to build teams and manage groups
  • Experience in stakeholder/government/media relations is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing competing priorities in a complex environment.
  • Experience with systematic review and reference management software
  • Models and promotes core ethical practice and waypoint Values (Caring, Respect, Accountability, Innovation), and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
  • Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
