About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Site Coordinator, Asphalt Operators are responsible for all site operations. This includes bulk liquid handling, dry goods handling, forklift operation, pump operation, blending operations, chemical handling, emulsion production, truck loading/unloading, rail car unloading, steam system operation, hot oil system operation, order taking, billing and transfer of custody

Responsibilities:

  • Production planning and milling and blending operations
  • Consult with technical services on product issues
  • Loading, unloading trucks with asphalt and emulsion
  • Unloading raw materials from railcars and trucks
  • Support maintenance and project activities
  • Plan and perform lock out tag out for maintenance purposes.
  • Support maintenance contractors by communicating requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Write and issue permits for work to be completed on site
  • Participate and lead tailgate and hazard assessment meetings
  • Routine visual inspections of tanks, piping, pumps and other equipment
  • Volume measurement, physical count reporting, monitoring steam and hot oil systems

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada 4th class power engineering certification would be an asset
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Technical school diploma would be an asset
  • Experience in Oil & Gas operations would be an asset
  • Experience in fluid handling operation, boiler, steam plant operator and/or in truck loading operation would be an asset
  • Class 5 driver's license required
