Role and Responsibilities

Communicate direction and set department production priorities for the week, quarter and long term.
Development of area improvement teams, continually determining opportunities for improvement.

Manage and ensure adherence to all department key performance indicators (KPI) in accordance with the key results areas and with water and energy KPI's.

Organize manpower and equipment needed to ensure the department runs efficiently; maintaining quality product.
Determine priorities for capital, major maintenance and minor mods in consultation with the department.

Monitor and develop plans for inventory management of the chip and hog supply through risk management practices in conjunction with the Woodlands group.

Assess quality and production of residual chips and hog.
Champion incident investigation reviews and closures when applicable.
Assist with the development of in-service training and educational programs in relation to the technician progression system.
Responsible for managing the production budget for the department.
Approve and manage all department manuals, standard department procedures, critical task procedures, safe work plans and lockouts.
Implement policies and inform department of any changes.
Adhere to compliance with provincial and federal legislation.
Work closely with the maintenance group on scheduling maintenance activities.

Attend all department reliability meetings and work with the area Reliability Engineer to improve overall equipment and team member dependability.

Assist with the development of department wide and job specific competencies.
Ensure that a skills inventory for the department job roles is in place and up to date.
Additional duties, as required.

Qualifications and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Strong team player, interpersonal and communication skills.
Self-driven, innovative and safety conscious individual.
Strong organizational and decision making skills.
Ability to manage a comprehensive financial budget.
Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Proven ability to work with diverse groups and understanding of regulations and workforce legalities.
Ability to interact with leaders and team members sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient.
Proven ability to influence and guide decision-making abilities of others.
5-10 years' experience in a leadership role.

We like to provide you with ample time to enjoy your life. This role works four 10‐hour days a week (i.e. Monday ‐ Thursday) from 7:00 a.m. ‐ 5:00 p.m. This means you will enjoy a 3‐day weekend every week.

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications and competency with a starting base annual salary range of $136k-151k. You will also start with three weeks (120 hours) of annual vacation, prorated based on your start date.
