• This posting is for current and upcoming opportunities which may involve working night shifts with Thursday/Friday or Sunday/Monday as off days and various work reporting locations (Davisville Yard or Wilson Yard), which may vary as directed by work assignments.

What You Will Do

:

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

:

• Must have practical experience and knowledge of bridge/structure repairs involving abrasive blast cleaning, structural steel repairs/coating; layout/placement of reinforcing steel, use of concrete materials, injection grouting etc. This would normally be acquired through approximately 24 months of structural repair experience;
• Must have a valid Class "G" Province of Ontario Driver's Licence;
• May be required to attend and successfully complete the Training Department's program for truck drivers and pass the written and practical tests required for a class "DZ" driver's licence;
• Require training obtained through the completion of Grade 12 education (technical program) or its recognized equivalent as determined by the Training Department or 24 months of Structure Rehabilitation Vehicle Operator within the Structure Maintenance department with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalency;
• Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions as demonstrated by an ability to understand and follow published operating/safety regulations;
• Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in order to exchange information and instructions with the Transit Control Centre and follow proper radio and telephone protocol;
• Must be certifiable to wear breathing apparatus as per the respiratory protection program;
• Must attend and successfully complete the training programs for transportation of dangerous goods and confined space entry;
• Must be able to attend and successfully complete all portions of training;
• Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
