About this opportunity

Reporting to both the Converting Supervisor and Converting Manager, the incumbent shall follow all company policies and procedures as related to their position.

The main responsibility of the employee is to inspect the condition and safety of all equipment they are about to operate before starting it up and ensure that the quality of the finished product coming off of their machine is of high quality and meets customer specifications.

What you will duties

• Check the docket and schedule to see what is to be laminated and what films and adhesives are to be used;
• Responsible for doing all set up and filling the Quality Control Check Sheet;
• Responsible for keeping all rollers clean at all times, also the anilox roller must be cleaned before using new adhesive;
• Responsible for cleaning adhesive drums when using different adhesive and flush the pump system;
• Responsible for checking doctor blade if it's worn out or needs to be changed;
• Responsible for checking gauge of film, the treated side, the coated side/ metalized side, sealing side and printed side of each material before lamination;
• Must first remove a sample from the roll and then check the treated side using treat pen in order to avoid contamination;
• Responsible for maintaining high efficiency while producing a high quality product based on customer specifications;
• Continuously check all running conditions of the machine and the job being laminated and record it on the process control form;
• Responsible for indicating all problem areas of a roll by using flags and marking the reason down on the "Flag Roll Report". Must transfer all the information from printing to laminating using "Flag Roll Report";
• Responsible for checking the saran, acrylic or metalized coating of each roll after a mill splice;
• Responsible to take samples of each laminated roll for testing and future reference, write the job number on the sample and place it in the QA/ Retained sample box;
• Make sure that all information for an order is recorded properly and accurately on paperwork, roll tickets and on the laminated rolls;
• Responsible to scan all the in/out rolls in iRen system and to make sure that the Production Report is accurate;
• Responsible for housekeeping and maintaining a safe work area at all times, this includes the machine, work table and work station and, also completing the housekeeping checklist;
• Responsible for using all safety equipment supplied at all times and especially during clean ups;
• Responsible for machine clean up and having the machine set up for the incoming shift, especially when there is no continuous shift and when machine is shut down at the end of the week;
• Perform all duties as outlined in the job description and any other duties that may be assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Manager.

What are your qualifications

• Grade 12 High School Diploma
• Minimum of two (2) years experience as Laminator Helper;
• Minimum of two (2) years relevant production/manufacturing experience;
• Knowledge of laminating;
• Ability to work independently;
• Enthusiastic selfstarter with a desire to learn new skills;
• Ability to multi task with a strong attention to detail;
• High energy level, positive attitude and able to work effectively with other departments;
• Leads by example, with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively;
• Ability to take and provide clear direction.
