Other Information:
The role of the Assistant is to support the K.A.P. Instructor and to support the implementation of
emergent curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports childcentered programming.
  • Supports the planning of programming including developing materials and shopping for supplies as required.
  • Set up/clean up for daily programming prior/after each session.
  • Supports the Instructor with the daily snack that follows Canada's Healthy Food Guide.
  • Supports the Instructor by completing daily observations on students including programming needs,
strengths, and interests.

  • Attends Collaborative Program Meetings (School Based and Division Based).
  • Follows the daily programming plans as set out by the instructor that includes learning goals for small/large
group and play/exploration time.

  • Supports the documentation of student learning.
  • Takes part in professional development opportunities as laid out by the Early Years Literacy Consultant.
  • Submits timesheets/expense sheets.
  • Participates in annual performance review with Administrator and Early Years Literacy Consultant.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work with young children
  • Ability to work as a team with the program facilitator
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Creativity working to support learning programs for young children
  • Ability to create a positive learning environment
  • Ability to organize and participate in recreational activities such as games
  • Observe and monitor children's play activities
  • Keep records/daily observations of children

employee group and the Seine River School Division.
