THE ROLE

This role involves serving as an individual contributor who manages the project accounting within the company.

THE TASKS

Project Accounting

May include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:

Project Budget Management: Develop and maintain project budgets, track expenses, and forecast cost-to-completion to ensure alignment with financial goals.

Cost Tracking: Monitor project costs, including labor, materials, and overhead, to accurately reflect project financial status.

Billing and Invoicing: Coordinate with project managers to ensure timely billing and collection for project-related work.

Financial Reporting: Prepare project financial reports and analysis, providing stakeholders with up-to-date financial information.

Compliance: Ensure project accounting activities comply with relevant accounting standards and financial regulations.

Audit Support: Provide necessary documentation and support during project audits, both internal and external.

Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate project financials with the overall financial systems and processes.

Lease Accounting

May include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:

Lease Classification: Classify leases according to accounting standards such as IFRS 16, distinguishing between finance and operating leases.

Lease Transactions: Record initial lease recognition, measurement, and subsequent financial transactions, including interest and depreciation where applicable.

Payment Scheduling: Maintain schedules for lease payments, including the separation of principal and interest for finance leases.

Reassessment and Modification Tracking: Monitor and reassess lease terms for modifications, remeasurements, or terminations, and update the lease accounting accordingly.

Lease Renewals and Expirations: Manage accounting for lease renewals, expirations, and options, ensuring accurate reflection in the financial records.

THE EXPECTATIONS TIMELINE PREVIEW

By Month 1

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the company's operational flow, particularly focusing on project and lease accounting as per IFRS 16 standards.
  • Start to get acquainted with the procedures involved in month-end close and the tracking of projects.
  • Begin learning the organization's specific systems and protocols, with a focus on accounting for leases and projects.

By Month 3

  • Take on month-end closures and project tracking responsibilities with limited oversight.
  • Propose enhancements and actively contribute to refining accounting processes.
  • Participate effectively in the tracking and capitalization of projects, recognizing capitalizable expenses accurately.
