Job Overview
This role entails overall supervisory responsibility for approximately 40 production associates and 6 automation technicians looking after two of four 12-hour shifts in a four-shift, continental operation with 100% accountability for their performance including safety, quality, employee development, and productivity, all in support of our business goals and objectives.
An individual with a demonstrated coaching style that fosters and encourages initiative, teamwork and development of self-directed teams is what we are seeking.
Key Responsibilities
- Ownership of plant issues and continually focus on the needs of your team, with regards to scheduling, training, staffing, communications, etc.
- Role model for the site safety and environmental standards.
- Accountability for ensuring each team members compliance to policies and procedures, while demonstrating true care, concern and empathy for all team members.
- Accountability for the plant's performance in maintaining process capability and product specifications consistent with our quality system ensuring our customer requirements are fully met.
- Support and promote commitment and involvement of all employees in CIP activities focused on 5S principles, productivity and quality improvement.
- Lead your team in a manner that fosters a positive work environment, supports employee engagement and rewards effort and initiative.
- Maintain vigilance that your team's day to day tasks are completed to standard. Initiate timely action to communicate and address gaps.
- Driven to succeed and accountable for plant results.
- Foster and maintain positive professional relationships with other departments by engaging them in a positive, respectful manner geared to supporting the overall success of our business.
Key Skills, Abilities and Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years' previous supervisory experience in a fast paced, high tech, production environment.
- Ability to lead performance in a dynamic, flexible production department through the development of people, processes and systems.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing or automation/robotic engineering.
- Ability to think strategically and communicate on a crossfunctional basis, balancing longterm strategic objectives with shortterm tactical issues.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership and problem solving skills.
- Ability to recognize and inspire top performance in others to achieve stretch objectives while having the courage and compassion to hold all team members accountable to the standards these objectives require.
- Must be flexible and have proven ability to cope with difficult situations & strong change management skills.
- Proven success related to continuous improvement, internal drive to exceed expectations and goals.
- Ability to excel in a team environment but also have the skill to show strength & action on an independent level
Required Education:
Engineering degree or technology diploma or equivalent education and work experience.
Hours of Work:
Straight days looking after 2 of 4 shifts in a 12 hour, continental rotation (8 am to 8 pm days and 8 pm to 8 am days).
Production associates work two weeks days, two weeks nights. Supervisor is responsible for setting up the night shift.Job Types:
