The Opportunity:
The Research Assistant (RA) will be based at the Center for Research in Family Health, they will provide high-quality administrative and research support for projects related to youth mental health and addiction supports and services.
They will report to the Principal Investigator but will work closely with the Research Coordinators and other members of the research team.
Responsibilities may include:
Facilitating study administration including:
- Assisting with the completion and coordination of the Research Ethics Board and Grant submissions
- Maintaining a filing system for participant and study documentation
- Developing and maintaining methods of tracking information through databases and spreadsheets
- Supporting knowledge translation activities (e.g., reports, conference posters, social media, etc)
Supporting data collection, entry, and management including:
- Setting up and maintaining survey databases (e.g., RedCAP)
- Developing recruitment materials, recruiting, and consenting participants
- Qualitative and quantitative data collection including conducting participant interviews/focus groups, administering surveys
- Entering data
- Assisting with data analysis (e.g., transcribing interview/focus group data, assistance in qualitative analysis, conducting preliminary statistical analysis)
- Assisting with manuscript preparation and literature reviews
Providing administrative support including:
- Coordinating research activities. This may include scheduling, communication, securing space and required technology, and collecting and summarizing evaluation measures.
- Attending and taking minutes at meetings and helping to arrange these meetings
Other duties as required
Hours of Work:
Some flexibility is required (e.g., some evenings or weekends may be required depending on the nature of ongoing studies and deadlines and time zones of collaborators.)
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, such as psychology, nursing, family studies, or health promotion is preferred.
- At least 1 year of combined experience in a similar position
- Welldeveloped organizational, time management, and daily planning skills
- Experience in a research environment and with Research Ethics Board submissions is a strong asset.
- Proficiency with current IWK Health systems (ROMEO, and REDCAP) an asset
- Ability to draft, format, and edit correspondence.
- Ability to work well independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ability to work flexibly, multitask, and receive constructive feedback.
- Ability to earn confidence, trust, and respect from colleagues; present ideas clearly and concisely and follow through on commitments.
- Experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis preferred.
- Experience working with youthfocused organizations, agencies, or groups an asset.
