Job Summary:


The Estimator is responsible for assisting the Chief Estimator by performing preliminary estimates for the supply and installation of retrofit and new construction window, doors and railings for condos, apartments and commercial buildings.

Primary tasks are to review and summarize tender package and conduct material take-offs. The ability to read and interpret architectural construction drawings is of paramount importance.

Job Details:

  • Location: 400 McNeilly Road, Stoney Creek, ON.
  • Schedule: 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. (2 paid breaks, 1/2 hour unpaid lunch).
  • Salary: $45,000 to $55,000
  • Benefits: Companypaid group medical, dental, and insurance after probation.

Job Tasks:

  • Read, interpret, understand and summarize retrofit and new construction tender packages (specifications, scope of work, tender forms etc.)
  • Work from architectural drawings, specifications, blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Recap, price and extend quantity and material takeoffs for both windows and balcony railings
  • Identify and summarize deviations or discrepancies within the tender package and drawings
  • Request quotations from suppliers and review, and enter supplier pricing in a detailed and organized manner
  • Monitor work progress, complete logs and update Chief Estimator about challenges

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, technical college or equivalent of technical training and related experience
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and other constructionrelated documentation is critical
  • Experience in construction relating to commercial windows, window wall systems, curtain wall, glazing is preferred
  • Able to work independently and in a cooperative team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure with focus to achieve deadlines
  • Highly organized with strong work ethic
  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu is preferred.
