Summary:


We are looking for
a Temporary
Full Time (Mat leave Coverage) for 37.5 hours/week Communications & Development Manager from
February 5, 2024, to September 5
, 2024 (with the possibility of extension).



Responsibilities:

  • Internal Communications_
  • Oversee the monthly Staff Bulletin and lead the process of creating a new newsletter format based on staff input.
  • Regularly update Westcoast's intranet SharePoint site with relevant news stories as well as updated forms, messaging, and other assets upon request.
  • Support leadership and other members of the Westcoast team with their allstaff communication strategies and messaging.
  • Working closely with Human Resources, colead various staff engagement and recognition initiatives and events throughout the year.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Communications/Marketing_
  • Maintain Agency website and social media accounts; ensure online content is accurate and up to date. The website is currently in redevelopment.
  • Oversee and/or develop the preparation of reports, briefs, speeches, presentations, press
- releases, posters, newsletters.

  • Establish and cultivate strong relationships with peers, across different levels of the organization and external community.
  • Create and maintain all pertinent confidential documentation including letters of agreements and memorandums; and general correspondence including letters of acknowledgment, appreciation, and grant awards.
  • Prepare executive reports, briefs, speeches, presentations, and press releases for executive leadership and board of directors.
  • Develop and implement new marketing strategies to increase community engagement and overall agency awareness of programs and services.
  • Working closely with the Coordinator, Communications & Development lead the writing and planning of marketing campaigns for annual giving campaigns, "Help Kids Play" and "Holiday Hampers".
  • Other duties as required.
  • Fund Development/Resource Development_
  • Manage the Building Blocks program that supports families with emergency funding and concrete needs, which includes both fundraising and managing staff requests for funding.
  • Lead two annual giving campaigns that supports vulnerable families with their concrete needs: "Help Kids Play" and "Holiday Hampers".
  • Research new fundraising opportunities and increase revenue streams from donations, sponsorships and fundraising activities.
  • Conduct fundraising activities, donor cultivation, stewardship, monitoring, and solicitation throughout the year with increased focus during the holiday season.
  • Maintain and track donation funds via Canada Helps, including donor recognition and engagement of donors, with support from the Finance team.
  • Conduct research to identify individual, government, and corporate donor prospects. Other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Relevant bachelor's degree (Marketing, Communications, Project Management, Business, etc.)
  • Relevant work experience in communications, fundraising, and project management. Notfor
- profit experience considered an asset.

  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong writing/editing and oral/interpersonal communication skills
  • Positive, professional demeanor. Comfortable with donor relations and community engagement.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities; superior attention to detail and deadline oriented.
  • Proficient in a range of computer software programs, particularly Microsoft Office and online tools: CRM, constant contact, survey monkey, Canva etc.
