Position Summary:


As the Commercial Business Manager for BC & Yukon regions, you will work in conjunction with the Director of Commercial Business and the BC/Yukon Branch Manager in managing the day-to-day commercial operations of the BC office.

This includes, but is not limited to, business management and planning, implementation of initiatives and budget management.

In addition, you will have direct responsibility for leading a high performing commercial sales and service team in the BC & Yukon market.

This position will drive the annual sales of our HVAC commercial equipment within the assigned territory.

The Commercial Business Manager is responsible for sales, margin and revenue based on a defined plan and for developing and implementing market strategies aimed at driving growth across all commercial product lines.

The position reports to the Director of Commercial Business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • With the support of the BC/Yukon Branch Manager oversee the daytoday commercial operations of the BC Branch including managing commercial business sales and service personnel, assigning tasks, leading meetings and implementing initiatives driven by the Director of Commercial Business
  • Working in collaboration with the Residential Business Manager and Branch Manager in BC ensure total BC office HVAC top and bottomline annual sales targets are realized.
  • Develop and implement market specific sales growth plans and identify business development opportunities to realize regional commercial sales volume and margin objectives.
  • Working in collaboration with the BC/Yukon Branch Manager and Director of Commercial Business responsible for the overall commercial sales, service, marketing and profitability of the Commercial HVAC product business in BC & Yukon, including managing sales volume, product mix and market selling prices
  • Develop, educate, motivate and mentor commercial sales and service personnel to achieve individual and team performance objectives.
  • Establish effective sales monitoring and reporting processes.
  • Complete and submit to the Director of Commercial Business a monthly report of sales, project pipeline, shipping forecast, jobs won/lost, key local market developments, personnel performance and any significant defective product or service issues.
  • Manage the commercial sales and marketing budget for the commercial business for annual sales and marketing initiatives, campaigns, special projects, promotions, customer trips and other initiatives.
  • Manage commercial service issues with the commercial team and customer base providing routine feedback to the Director of Commercial Business,
  • Manage the delivery of ongoing product training and education programs for BC Branch commercial sales & service staff and customer base.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Product Team in conjunction with the Director of Commercial Business regarding commercial sales strategies in the territories and national HVAC market trends.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial product team and Director of Commercial Business to support new product launches, product training programs and market intelligence to enable the ongoing product development process.
  • Maintain a thorough and accurate understanding of the market, customers, and competitive activities in the regions.
  • Create and Implement sales strategies and plans to grow sales in Commercial product categories.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (PEng or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication, sales, and people management skills.
  • A strong technical knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems. Experience with commercial systems and VRF technology is a definite asset.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to effectively execute the key responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven problem solving, leadership and listening skills.
  • Results driven with a personal focus on consistently producing accurate and thorough results.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
