AECOM is actively seeking an Intermediate Environmental/Civil Engineer to join our growing Western Canada remediation team in British Columbia.

This is a Full-time role.

This position is ideally suited to an intermediate environmental engineering professional seeking a mix of field and office responsibilities.

When not engaged in active field tasks, the right candidate can work locally from our Burnaby, BC office; Depending on time of year, field work will likely represent 40 to 65% of your time with office-based tasks representing the remainder of the time.

Field work locations can vary from local to remote locations on a range of active to decommissioned commercial and industrial sites.


Field tasks will include:

Oversight and execution of sample collection of various media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil vapour, etc.) as part of environmental site investigations, design work packages, and confirmation of remediation programs.

Oversight of contractors.
Monitoring and maintenance of remediation systems.
General field inspection and field survey.
Construction / remediation construction field services oversight.

Office tasks will include:
Project Management and project coordination, including client liaison
Direction and oversight of junior staff
Data evaluation against provincial and federal environmental requirements
Support of engineering calculations and design.
Preparation of deliverables including reports, engineering specifications, and associated drawings.

4+ years of experience including any co-operative education experience in environmental consulting, industry, or regulatory environment versed in contaminated site investigation, remediation, and/or waste management.

Engineering degree in a relevant technical discipline, including but not limited to environmental, civil, mining, hydrogeological, and geological study areas.

A valid Driver's license.
Ability to travel for field work within the province.
6+ years of experience including any co-operative education experience in environmental consulting, industry, or regulatory environment versed in contaminated site investigation, remediation, and/or waste management
Prior field sampling or site investigation experience
BC based and/or federal client work experience
Engineering design experience under the supervision of professional engineer, including preparation of specification packages.
Solid written and spoken communication skills, including using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports
demonstrates an understanding and shows technical competence in conducting field tasks
collects and analyzes data under supervision of professional staff
knowledgeable and experience with provincial and federal regulations
strong interest and appetite to learn about the Environment business and the market
