Metering Supervisor

Serving more than 157,000 residential and business customers in the City of Kitchener, City of Waterloo, Township of Woolwich, Township of Wilmot, and Township of Wellesley, Enova Power Corp.
Reporting to the Manager of Metering, this position is responsible for the direction and supervision of all functions and activities related to the operation of the department.
The incumbent is responsible for directing and executing activities in accordance with acceptable standards and ensuring that work is carried out in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.
Note that this is a full-time permanent opportunity and will be reporting to the Victoria Street and Country Squire locations.
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge
- Intermediate skills in MS Office
- Intermediate project management and organizational skills
- Ability to respond to safety and technical issues expediently and consistent with company policy
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills to provide clear direction on work priorities and expectations
- Ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues involving both internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to prepare various reports and departmental budgets
- Ability to provide strong leadership to motivate and direct work and ensure consistency with the objectives of the organization
- Advanced knowledge of Electrical Theory
- Advanced knowledge of Measurement Canada Regulations
- Advanced knowledge of IHSA Electrical Utility Safety Rules
- Advanced knowledge of the Work Protection Code, EUSA rules, ESA Distribution Safety Regulations and all other applicable government regulations
- Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet and RF communication systems
- Intermediate knowledge of the contents and administration of the collective agreement
- Basic knowledge of the Employment Standards Act
- Advanced knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individual, organizational and operational requirements
- Intermediate knowledge of IESO Market Rules as they pertain to wholesale metering, settlement and billing
Experience/Education
- 10 plus years in a Metering Technician role
- Class G Driver's Licence
- Engineering Technology Diploma
- Mearie Metering Technician Certification
Primary Responsibilities

Provision of Expert Advice: Counsel and confer with the Manager of Metering, Stations & Metering on day-to-day issues that may have an impact on performance standards.

Budgeting:Prepare and monitor the departmental operating and capital budgets and ensure that the department operates within the approved budget.

Staffing: Review work schedules, hire, manage performance, conduct reviews, and ensure that training and development are available to enhance performance and knowledge level of staff. Ensure compliance with corporate policies, procedures, established best practices, and relevant regulatory rules and regulations.

Management:Ensure that the daily work assignments are completed efficiently and according to all work standards. Complete daily reports and ensure planned work is understood, assigned and site visits are conducted to evaluate performance. Ensure employees and contractors follow corporation rules, policies, appropriate safety rules and government regulations. Ensure that staff has the appropriate tools, materials and equipment to perform daily assignments.

Technical: Manage the meter program in compliance with Measurement Canada standards and specifications. Plan and oversee new meter installations. Maintain meter records in accordance with guidelines, respond to customer issues and ensure resolution. Liaise with other departments and vendors to enhance or implement new meter technologies and software. Ensure meters, equipment and tools are available and aligned with project start dates.

Labour Relations: Manage staff to ensure that the Collective Agreement is administered in a fair and reasonable manner and promotes a positive culture for union/management relations.

Safety: Provide leadership for Occupational Health & Safety activities for the organization to effectively promote a culture of health, safety and loss prevention. Conduct safety visits and participate in monthly safety meetings. Complete accident/incident reports and ensure corrective actions are executed.
